Monica Jackson, MHC

Clinician

I started making a bucket list in middle school. It included moving out of the Midwest, dancing under the Eiffel Tower, and seeing an R-rated movie. While the physical list itself is long gone, the curiosity that inspired it hasn't faded. That same drive keeps me moving today; when I’m not working, I’m usually going for a run, planning my next weekend getaway, or hosting a Survivor watch party.

About

I used to think I fell into being a therapist. The further I get into this journey, I realize I didn’t fall into this career, rather I found myself and allowed my values to lead me to the right place. As a former collegiate athlete I struggled navigating retirement and started looking into the field of sport psychology. Navigating that grief led me to a dual program in mental health and mental performance. As I continued through graduate school I realized the passion I have for counseling and walking with my clients through the difficulties of life. Witnessing a person’s story and being a partner in building a better life is a privilege that I have everyday as a therapist.

Why did I become a therapist?
