Amy Bennett, LCSW
Clinician
When I’m not working or focused on family time with my husband, teen daughter and 4 (now adult) step kids, I love to play piano, read, attempt to grow plants, take walks and catch up with friends. I’m not a great cook, but have a fascination with understanding nutrition and its impact on our physical and mental wellbeing.
In my work I lead with curiosity and empathy to partner with clients who are navigating life's challenges. Together we work toward a deep exploration of emotions and experiences to help uncover underlying patterns that may be contributing to distress. I strive to create a safe space where clients feel heard, validated, and understood as they address challenges around Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Grief, Self-Harm, Relationship Challenges, Trauma, Emotion Regulation, LGBTQIA+ identities, life transitions and more.
About
I arrived at a career in clinical social work after a few twists and turns. The thread through my early career in various industries was a curiosity about human behavior and the pursuit of understanding what motivates people to behave the way they do. In my 30’s, two events deeply affected my life and priorities: my mother passed away and I became a stepmom to 4 young children. Attending to my grief and learning to navigate a blended family focused my attention on discerning how people heal from emotional injuries, adapt to major life transitions and build strong relationships. My search for understanding pointed me toward my graduate program in clinical social work. Partnering with clients in building the skills and insights that make their lives easier and more enjoyable has been extraordinarily fulfilling. I have an insatiable desire to learn and my clients are often my best teachers.
